About
Hi, I’m Kam.
I’m a quality assurance engineer, and I started LowkeyIT in 2020 to help people around Dallas–Fort Worth get their tech working.
How LowkeyIT started
When COVID sent everyone home, friends and family needed help setting up home offices. That turned into after-hours IT support for small businesses around DFW that didn’t have an IT person, including insurance agency offices and a freight company.
I built standard Windows images in my home lab so new computers arrived ready to work, set up networks that make sense, and wrote everything down. My rule has always been to leave each office easier to manage than I found it.
My day job: making software not break
I’ve spent 10+ years in software quality. Most recently I was a QA Engineer at Bread Financial, testing enterprise credit systems, where I cut regression testing time by about half. Before that I was the lead QA engineer on a Department of Veterans Affairs data program through Booz Allen Hamilton, and earlier I worked on Hewlett-Packard’s global payroll systems.
Why AI, and why now
AI is now part of how I work every day: research, documentation, testing and building tools. At Bread Financial I built AI-assisted testing workflows and taught them to the QA team. This website was built with Claude Code. Most small business owners don’t have time to figure all that out, and I enjoy it. That’s the gap LowkeyIT fills.
Why “LowkeyIT”?
Good IT should be low-key: it works, it stays out of your way, and you don’t think about it. And when something finally clicks, you get LiT.
